Austrian supervisory authority BMVIT, granting a buliding permit to our customer on April 15th, made it official. The aerial tramway Lech - Oberlech will be replaced by a totally new two-track installation by Steurer, with cabins for 80 persons each. Following the present line from the center of Lech to Oberlech, it will link up with the famous tunnel system that connects all hotels there and helps to keep Oberlech car-free during winter.
While the project, that will result in Vorarlberg's most powerful reversible ropeway so far, was widely new to the unaffected public, Steurer has been working on it for several months yet. Holding the necessary permit now, demolition of the old cableway is just about to begin, followed by the constuction of the new station buildings. The new Steurer ATW is scheduled to be available as early as December 2016, when coming winter season will start.
