Reversible aerial ropeways or jig-back ropeways are characterised
by two functionally independent types of cable, i.e. track
cables and haul ropes. Unlike contionuously circulating
ropeways, the carrier does not go around a bullwheel in
the stations, but travels back and forth between the mountain
and valley stations propelled by the haul rope and rolling
on the track rope(s).
Engineering of reversible ropeways is one of the core
competencies of our company. The classic large aerial
tramway is currently experiencing a new boom as it is
rightly being viewed increasingly as a tourist attraction.
If the topographical features are suitable, the investment
costs for the reversible ropeways are more than just competitive
compared with contionuously circulating ropeways, because
of considerably lower operating costs and a longer life
cycle.
Our installations comply with the latest legal requirements
(Directive 2000/9/EC) and are adapted within its framework
to all possible customer requirements.
Unlike the widely standardised and industrially manufactured
contionuously circulating ropeways, reversible systems
are still highly individual pieces of mechanical engineering
technology.
Today we design, manufacture and build nearly all types
of reversible ropeways. The standard range includes single
and twin track rope systems, with or without track rope
brake / gripping brake, for a maximum passenger capacity
in the 3-digit range and speeds of up to 12 m/s.
